The Lotus and the Rose

The detached and the incense attached,
Beauty of the one divine and the other angelic,
One respires in water while making its identity,
While the other is preserved in water so as to not lose its identity.
One an attraction and the other a distraction.
One unprotected in solitude,
The other self-protected by thorns, in the vicinity of multitude.
One goes unnoticed in the wild,
As the other is celebrated by the wild majority.
Incensed by ones fragrance when eyes wide shut
And its beauty when wide open,
The commoner falls for the latter,
As experience and wisdom chooses the former.
Yet one not bewildered in the wild shines effervescently through the heart of the chosen one,
As the one bewildered by the population is plucked.
How many can swim to attain thee, lotus?
One who dares attains thee,
As everyone who covets beauty can attain a rose, though pricked by its nature.
You are worth the effort, as a rose can be had at comfort.
But your beauty can only be attained by a fervent admirer with a discreet vision.
The Rose or the Lotus, not many have a choice between the two,
As most of them settle for Daisy, as it’s easy.

  1. A wonderful comparison between Lotus and Rose...:) If given an option, I would opt for the Lotus...:)
