After life

My words for Afterlife, A Netflix series, which borders on lives lost and the coping mechanism available to a survivor. A beautiful mishmash of tragedy, empathy, reason to live, living with and for others, finding another.

An ode to memory,
The memory of the loved,
The loved with whom you lived.
You reminisce the good old times,
As you have nothing to cheer your present,
But the memories of the past .
A peek into it gives a high,
You forget the present,
Relive the past.
When the smile that used to be,
Turns into a frown that be.
And you catch yourself thinking of it.
You get back to the times that were,
In whose presence what you turned out to be.
With some one to shoulder your past misgivings,
To carry the present with you, for you,
And to reassure your future with warmth .
There maybe just words unspoken,
But words uttered to your hearts’ content,
Handled with care and the purest intent.
When days used to be,
Days you’d look ahead to,
Days you’d reason with,
Days you’d live for,
Now turned into an afterlife you’d forget,
Trying to relive the past.
